Setting is five acres of Sonoran desert foothills within an environmental reserve of 20 gated acres adjoining Saguaro National Park. Architecture by Paul Weiner achieves a graceful and contemporary composition of adobe, concrete, steel, and glass. Vegetation of native cactuses, trees, and shrubs that crowd the perimeter of house provide habitat for an abundance of desert birds and animals. Outdoor living is encouraged by a variety of patios including a shaded and roofed outdoor zone integrated within the boundary of the house (600 SF). Interiors finished in concrete, adobe, and wood are grouped into two zones that separate social and private uses. Living, dining, kitchen, and office areas are in one zone (900 SF). Master suite, guest suite, and laundry are in a detached zone (900 SF).
